Doyle Exits DoylesRoom the Latest on Black Friday
Since the U.S. Department of Justice handed down their indictments on April 15th, a lot has been happening in online poker, especially for U.S. based players. One of the most prominent casualties of this crackdown in America is the exit of legend Doyle Brunson from his own website, DoylesRoom.com. It is believed his exit from the site is an effort to try and distance himself from online poker, in case the Federal authorities decide to expand on the current indictments. read article

U.S. Attorney General Talks Poker at DOJ Oversight Hearing
On Tuesday, at the Department of Justice oversight hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Eric Holder was finally forced to respond on their attack of Internet Poker. Upon entering the meeting, there was an uncertainty whether poker would even be brought up by the committee members, but thanks to members of the PPA, who bombarded their representatives with phone calls and emails, poker was brought up on three occasions. John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance (who attended the hearing along with about 30 PPA employees and members) said, "It was important that some members raised concerns about the DOJ policy as it relates to Internet poker, we can't say that, because of this hearing, this domino will fall. It's another step forward in an ultimate progression to get licensed and regulated Internet poker. Some good questions were raised about the priority of this administration. But we won't see results tomorrow. It will have to build over time. read article

Create Pressure With Your Opening Bet
If you're the first to enter the pot in a No-Limit Hold’Em game, never call. If you aren't prepared to raise, quit. By raising, you put pressure on the blinds and the other players at the table, making them think about just how strong their hands really are. Chances are that by raising, you'll force average hands to fold before you even see the flop, limiting the number of players you have to beat through the rest of the hand. read article

How to Win Tournaments
There isn’t as much of a difference between ring-games and tournament play as people seem to think. The best strategy is to concentrate less on changing your normal play, and think more about the other players. You need to be able to react to many different players and playing styles. Anyone who can do this will thrive in both ring-games and tournaments. read article
